BAMBOOZI ABC SCHOOL
The Bamboozi ABC School is a small preschool just behind Kumba Lodge. It welcomes around fifty children between the ages of three and five from the local community. In an area where early childhood education is limited, the school offers a safe, nurturing place for the kids to learn, play and grow.
Kumba Lodge supports the school with regular donations of food, supplies and maintenance help. The teachers do an incredible job with very few resources, so even small contributions go a long way. Their main needs are learning materials, toys, clothes and ongoing support for teacher salaries.
If you’d like to get involved, you’re welcome to visit the school and meet the team. Guests often bring simple items such as crayons, paper, puzzles, picture books or basic hygiene products. Financial contributions are also appreciated and go directly toward food, materials and salaries. If you prefer to support from afar, we can connect you with the coordinators so you know exactly how your help is used.
The Bamboozi ABC School is a modest project with a meaningful impact, and supporting it is a simple way to contribute to the community that surrounds Kumba Lodge.
NHATOFO LIFEGUARDS
Nhatofo Salvavidas is a volunteer lifeguard initiative based here in Tofo. The team works every day to keep our beach safer for locals, surfers and visiting families. Their presence makes a real difference, especially during busy periods and strong ocean conditions.
Kumba Lodge supports Nhatofo Salvavidas with monthly contributions to help cover basic equipment, first-aid supplies and transport costs. The group runs on very limited resources, and most of the volunteers give their time purely out of commitment to the community.
Guests who feel drawn to support are welcome to do so. The lifeguards often need items such as basic medical supplies, rash vests, fins, rescue tubes and sunscreen. Financial donations are also appreciated and go directly toward equipment maintenance, training and stipends for the volunteers who spend long hours on the beach.
